Jonathan Dunn is a Director at Lateral Link, based in the Los Angeles office. He focuses on attorney placements with premier law firms across California, the Northeast, and the Southeast, and works with associates, counsel, and partners on strategic lateral moves. Jonathan has experience supporting searches and placements across many major U.S. legal markets, including Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, San Francisco and the broader Bay Area, New York, Boston, Washington DC, Charlotte, Atlanta, Birmingham, and Nashville.
Jonathan partners closely with candidates to help them navigate market conditions, evaluate opportunities, and position themselves effectively in a competitive lateral environment. He also works with law firm leadership and recruiting teams to identify and attract talent aligned with firm culture, practice needs, and long-term growth objectives. His approach emphasizes discretion, judgment, and long-term fit, with an understanding that lateral moves are meaningful inflection points in an attorney’s career.
Prior to joining Lateral Link, Jonathan practiced as a transactional attorney at several leading law firms, including McGuireWoods, Cooley, Paul Hastings, and Sheppard Mullin. At McGuireWoods, his practice included credit finance matters such as syndicated lending and asset-backed facilities, as well as corporate and M&A transactions. At Cooley, Paul Hastings, and Sheppard Mullin, he focused on real estate transactions, including leisure and hospitality projects, acquisitions and dispositions, and real estate finance.
That background gives Jonathan firsthand insight into large-firm practice and the practical considerations attorneys weigh when evaluating lateral opportunities. As a recruiter, he brings a practitioner’s perspective to every search and candidate relationship.
Jonathan earned his J.D. from Harvard Law School and his B.A. from the University of Alabama. Outside of work, Jonathan enjoys traveling, cooking, and following Alabama Crimson Tide football.
