Michael Heise is the Chief Technology Officer of haistack.ai. There, he leads the company’s technology strategy, innovation initiatives, and product development efforts. Prior to joining haistack.ai, Mike built a diverse career spanning public safety, finance, defense, and legal sectors. Over the past five years, he has served in key technology leadership roles at Covington & Burling LLP and Cooley LLP. In these roles, he helped drive modernization, improve operational efficiency, and implement transformative digital solutions within complex, global organizations.
An award-winning and results-oriented leader, Mike brings extensive experience in managing full software product life cycles — from concept and design through deployment and continuous improvement. He leads with a strong focus on aligning technology with business goals, fostering innovation, and cultivating high-performing, cross-functional teams. With a talent for guiding organizations through change, Mike introduces emerging technologies and executes process improvement initiatives that deliver measurable value.
Mike earned both his Bachelor’s degree in Business Information Systems and his MBA with a concentration in Entrepreneurship from the University of Maryland, College Park. His academic background, coupled with his technical and operational expertise, provides him with a unique perspective. He bridges business strategy with technological execution. Earlier in his career, Mike proudly served in the United States Marine Corps Reserves. There he developed the discipline, leadership, and adaptability that continue to define his professional approach today.
Outside of work, Mike resides in Washington, D.C., with his wife, their three children, and their energetic boxer, Zeke. When he isn’t shuttling his kids to their many activities, he enjoys spending time on the golf course. He also relaxes with his family at their lake house on Deep Creek Lake, Maryland. It is a favorite getaway that offers a welcome balance to his fast-paced professional life.
